Summer Reading Program 2024: Adventure Begins at Your Library!

Registration for Adventure Begins at Your Library opens on May 17th.  Readers ages 0-109 are invited to join the Dougherty County Public Library this summer for the "Adventure Begins at Your Library" Reading Challenge!  There will be  programs, prize drawings, and more!

Our annual summer reading program for kids consists of two parts: 1) tracking books read and 2) our summer events.  While you can certainly attend our events without tracking reading, we encourage both.  Studies have shown that reading over the summer helps kids keep up with their learning, so they'll be all set to dive into new stuff when school starts again in the fall.

How to get Started

Ages 0-12
1.  Register and track your reading online at docolib.beanstack.org, the Beanstack Tracker App, or pick up a paper tracker at any of our branches.
2.  Read 5 books, (being read to, listening to audiobooks, reading graphic novels--everything counts!)
3.  Head to Beanstack and log your reading, complete the "Super Reader" activities, and enter them into docolib.beanstack.org or ask any of our friendly staff to help.
4.  Log your reading and activities from May 17 - July 23.

Click here to view the performer list.  Or here to view the event calendar.

Teens and Adults
Summer reading isn't just for kids!  We also have a program for teens and adults.
1.  Visit any DCPL location or go to docolib.beanstack.org to register.
2.  Read three (3) books.
3.  Head to Beanstack and log your reading, write a book review, and complete an activity of your choice to be entered into our grand prize drawing.
4.  Log your reading, reviews, and activities from May 17 - July 23.

Follow the links below to find the free app in your Apple App or Google Play store under the name Beanstack Tracker. To register on the app, select “Find Your School or Library” and enter “Dougherty County Public Library” in the search bar. Your search may return results for multiple libraries, so we recommend looking for our logo to make sure you have the right one.
