If you are not able to enjoy books or magazines because you cannot see well enough to read conventional print or because a physical disability prevents you from handling the printed materials, you may wish to take advantage of a free service from the Library of Congress at the Albany Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) produces books and magazines on recorded discs, cassettes and in Braille, and the Albany Library lends them to individuals who are blind, visually impaired, physically handicapped and learning disabled in an eleven county area.

Reading Edge Machine

The Reading Edge machine, which will read printed materials aloud, is available for use by the public at the Albany Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. The reading edge machine can be connected to a cassette recorder to produce audio tape.
