ALBANY SYMPHONY ASSOCIATION

 

The April performance of the Albany Symphony will be And All That Brass, 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.  Featured will be the National Sphinx Competition Winner and the Darton College Community Band. If you and a companion would enjoy attending this performance, please give us a call.

 

PORTERFIELD DISTINQUISHED ARTIST SERIES

 

On Saturday, April 10, 2004, Porterfield Church is hosting Porterfield: An Evening in France at 7:30 p.m. at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.  This performance will include the music of Dukas, Chabrier and Poulenc featuring the Porterfield Choir and the Albany Chorale with full orchestra.  Tickets are free and available at Porterfield Church.  For more information, call 436-6336.

 

ONLINE CATALOG

 

For those of you who have not yet tried the online catalog, give us a call and we will assign your ID and password. The online catalog allows you to search the Talking Book Catalog on the Internet, add cassette book requests, and view cassette books checked out on your patron record.  The address is www.klas.com/glass.  Also, check out the Library for the Blind website at www.docolib.org.  You may like to visit the National Library Service for the Blind and Handicapped (NLS) website, www.loc.gov/nls, and learn the latest on plans for the new digital books and search the national catalog for books on cassette and in Braille.

 

ALBANY HERALD AVAILABLE

 

You may not be aware that the Albany Herald is available on cassette three days a week.  We have wonderful volunteers who come to the Library for the Blind Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to record and duplicate selections from the daily paper.  These cassettes are mailed the same day.  If you would like to receive the Albany Herald,  please give us a call or mark the last page and return the newsletter to us.
