Genealogy Room

We have an extensive collection of genealogical materials to assist you in family history research including the recently released 1930 census; death registers; deeds; church records and more. Located at Central Library. the Genealogy Room is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 229.420.3218.

 

Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
If you are not able to enjoy conventional books or magazines because of a visual or physical disability, you may wish to take advantage  of a free service from the Library of Congress at the Albany Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. For eligibility requirements and further information, call 229.420.3220 or 1.800.337.6251. Hours are Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

 

Reference and Information Services

Locate information fro research projects, reports and more. Our librarians will connect you with up-to-date, accurate information to meet your educational, recreational and lifelong learning needs.

 

Youth/Juvenile
In each branch of the Dougherty County Public Library there is an area just for kids. Books and other materials in this section have been specially chosen for children of all ages. We also have material for parents, teachers and others who work with young people. Additionally, programming is offered year-round at library branches throughout the county.

 

Audio/Visual
The library currently maintains circulating collections of video cassettes, audio cassettes, books on compact disc and DVDs. Microfilm reels of newspapers and magazines are part of the Reference collection and as such do not circulate.
